PC The cannabis hangout
Dan Humiston: [00:00:00] All right, everyone. Thanks for joining us. And welcome back. We have another great show in store for you today. Brandon Bell and Saba con are here to talk about their podcast, the cannabis hangout guys. Welcome to the show.
Sabah Khan and Brannan Bell: Thank you so much for having us. We're so excited to be here.
Dan Humiston: It's crazy. And on the other side of the mic, isn't it.
Sabah Khan and Brannan Bell: It, it.
feels really weird. I sweating a little bit. I'm not used to it.
Dan Humiston: well, I'm glad you guys could join me today. And I got to say just right off the bat that I listened to a lot of podcasts and we've had a ton of cannabis podcasts on our show, but yours, I think has the coolest vibe to it.
Sabah Khan and Brannan Bell: Oh, what a compliment. It's such a compliment. Thank you. We're honored.
Dan Humiston: It's. I mean, it's, it really feels like you're not trying. I think that's what it feels like. It's like, you're just a couple of really mellow people having conversations with your friends. That's, that's the feel that the show has and it's, it comes across. Like you're not even trying.
Sabah Khan and Brannan Bell: I love to hear that. Cause that was something [00:01:00] that I saw it and I like starting this podcast. We want it to be like very real and relatable and personable and just have everything be organic. And we knew we didn't want to put. Front on for anybody who we were not. And so I think the authenticity is really shows and you just said it.
So thank you.
Dan Humiston: Yeah, it's real relaxed. And just like, conversationalist, whose idea was it to get us?
Sabah Khan and Brannan Bell: it was kind of like a group effort. So we were all just like with friends, family, it was like a group of us girls and we were all just smoking and it was Brandon's idea because Brandon normally comes up with kind of crazy ideas and with smoking and. Or business ideas. They're not crazy. They're really good.
Creative everyone. Let me remember it crazy for, they're not crazy. They're actually really great. Well, this one was really great. And so she got the Instagram handle and I got the website and state question 7 88 short had passed shortly after that. And so Brandon got her med card before I did actually, but I'd been consuming longer than her. And so she kind of was [00:02:00] posting for almost a year of just like different means different educational about cannabis, just like random account. Nobody knew who ran it type thing. And we're both pretty creative people.
And we were just like, okay, we're like tired of working for other people. We're tired of working. The same job. What can we do? Go back to the table though. We were smoking with a few girls, and we're all just sitting there. We're like, how cool would that be? Like, we were all just sitting here and talking about what we're thinking.
Like we're all just stoned. It's fun and, people like listen to it, , and if they didn't want to see you, like everyone could be having like a cool mask on of some or, that was, Yeah.
It was just like wild. And they're just like, okay, like nodding your head.
All right. But we ran with it. We were like, okay. So Yeah.
good. We were like, okay, we're in a rut. What can we do? And I don't know really what led to the conversation of the canvas hangup. We were like, okay, let's do it. Let's start a. honestly, this whole journey has been such a gift because everything literally has been gifted to [00:03:00] us because people just believe in what we're doing, which is such an honor.
We're so grateful. And honestly, we've just been doing it and it's chocolate. You put out there, it just organically worked out and we've just been rolling with it and interviewing really cool people, getting to meet really cool people, getting enlightened, getting educated. It's really cool to just connect.
Different people in the community, but also connect people within the community, for medications, licenses, whatever.
Dan Humiston: Yeah. I mean, you must be doing something, right. Because you're over a hundred episodes now. Congratulations, which is really
Sabah Khan and Brannan Bell: Thank you. Thank you.
Dan Humiston: And , you talked about your guests, you have. Guests from all walks of life. Like I saw one where you were interviewing the person from paps, like a huge beer company.
And then there's another episode where you're interviewing a lady that owns a spray tan business. I'm like, that is so cool that you're
Sabah Khan and Brannan Bell: Yeah,
Dan Humiston: , to just find interesting stories as that's , the approach is less like tell a good story.
Sabah Khan and Brannan Bell: Yeah. , I feel like, in [00:04:00] this industry, like Robin, I say all the time, we would have never met or spoke to a lot of the people we have. If it wasn't for like cannabis. Us getting in his energy industry and it bringing people together, yeah.
I feel like we've crossed paths with so many people that if I like genuinely, I believe this, if I brushed past them on the street and we didn't consume cannabis, we would never connect. Yeah. Because we would have nothing different lives or, in common. Yeah. Different like goals, priorities, but it's cool that we've had people who. How have these huge businesses to people who have addiction or they're struggling, or they got to come out from it because cannabis helps them.
, we always try to focus on getting a variety of people and just like different cultures, because I feel like, there's not only one type of person who's smoking cannabis. It's literally all over the world in so many different cultures that you dive in.
We want to bring that on to our podcast.
Dan Humiston: Yeah. It's everybody. [00:05:00] It's everybody. , one advantage we think podcasts have is when they do like a reoccurring theme and you do something great at the end of your show. Let me play a clip , from
Sabah Khan and Brannan Bell: Okay.
Dan Humiston: of the year.
You asked that to every guest at the end of every episode,
Sabah Khan and Brannan Bell: We do. , we've interviewed a hundred different people and nobody has the same answer. Everyone's answer is so different, so unique. So, yeah,
Dan Humiston: like that one was really personal.
Sabah Khan and Brannan Bell: I know. That interview period Was.
good out rather with her [00:06:00] medic flower company here in Oklahoma, he has a beautiful mind And had a lot of great things to say he really did.
Yeah.
Dan Humiston: The listeners can get a sense for how you interact with your guests. It's real comforting, it's not like a gotcha feel.
Sabah Khan and Brannan Bell: Yeah,
Dan Humiston: It's really nice.
Sabah Khan and Brannan Bell: yeah. Thank you.
Dan Humiston: I feel it's important to, to give back and maybe give a tip for aspiring podcasters. I'd like to talk about music because you guys have just a great theme song and I'm actually, I have it for me, for everybody.
And I want to warn people beforehand. Once I play this, it's going to be in, it's going to be in your head. He will not get this out of your head. Let me play this real quick.
Sabah Khan and Brannan Bell: Okay.
Dan Humiston: yeah, our listeners can't see this, but you guys are jamming away at this music. This is [00:07:00] good. . It's good stuff.
Sabah Khan and Brannan Bell: so we like to involve like homie's or friends, and that makes us stuff. And we have one of our friends, actually some high schools, he made that jingle and we were just sitting in his like studio area room. He was doing all different types of like keys and like different instruments.
And we were just like seeing what we were vibing with.
and we just sat there and kept listening and then we just caught. Yeah.
, we probably were at his house less than five times. I would say it wasn't a lot, but he like caught the vibe that we were trying to put out.
It's like, our energies matched. And so he just really understood what you were trying to say, but we wanted it to be like a vibe where everyone could nod their head to while they were listening. Like, we, we love those things. So like , we were trying to figure out like, what other podcasts we listened to that we vibe with?
And like, we love the intros to yes. And that we can find yourselves like, damn until we were like, no, The intro jingle of our podcasts sound like something that people like can't wait to go back to. And it's like, nothing you ever want to skip. Because [00:08:00] oftentimes I find myself wanting to skip intros and I was like, Brandon, what can we do that?
Make people want to stay and listen to it every time where it's not annoying. It's just whoa, here we go again. Yeah. It's just like kind of Bob your head and as you're driving and , you work through it versus like, oh, here we go. The intro fast forward, fast forward type thing. ,
Dan Humiston: it's such a good point. And you mentioned energy I feel like that sort of sets the tone , because that's your vibe , if you could translate the way you guys are in the show to the music. It would be very similar, like that sort of sets the whole mood and everything.
I think it's great. I really do.
Sabah Khan and Brannan Bell: Thank you.
Dan Humiston: yeah. So is it a weekly show or is it a, is
Sabah Khan and Brannan Bell: It's a weekly show. So every Sunday at 7:00 PM, we drop our episodes and we have been doing this every Sunday, since December 28, which is, that's the one thing about podcasting that will make you stand out from other people is the quality and the consistency, because consistency is everything in anything that you do in.
[00:09:00] And if you stay consistent, people notice that. And when people notice that they keep coming back. And so that's one thing where her and I've been super consistent. I mean, we try to record our episodes months out so that we never fall and we can, focus on other avenues of our business and do what.
we need to do.
But the podcasts and recording good, meaningful conversations and meeting people always comes first.
Dan Humiston: Yeah. Well, you can check out a new episode every Sunday night on all major podcast networks. So please go to apple or Spotify and check out the cannabis hangout. Guys. This has been a lot of. We got to get a chance to talk and get to know you guys.
Sabah Khan and Brannan Bell: Yeah, thank you for having us on you were so wonderful to speak with.
